...See more Hi everyone in the Safety Community! 👋 I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the amazing session we had earlier in the Support Room with the topic: "Behind Every Screen There Is a Human." It was such a meaningful discussion, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it. Compassionate Communication: The Art of Listening and Understanding

...See more Communication is more than just talking—it’s about deep listening, empathy, and understanding. In the Relating domain of the Inner Development Goals (IDG) framework, compassionate communication is emphasized as a key skill for fostering meaningful connections. In the past, I thought being a "good communicator" meant knowing the right things to say. But over time, I realized that truly effective communication is about how well we listen rather than just how well we speak. One of my biggest turning points was recognizing my habit of "listening to respond" rather than "listening to understand." For example, when a friend shared their struggles, my instinct was to immediately offer advice. I thought I was helping, but I later realized that what they needed most was simply to be heard. This shift in perspective changed the way I interact with people. Instead of focusing on giving solutions, I started practicing active listening—making eye contact, nodding, and reflecting back what I heard before responding. Another tool that helped me was nonviolent communication (NVC), which emphasizes expressing feelings without blame and making requests rather than demands. It has transformed my relationships by reducing misunderstandings and fostering a sense of mutual respect. We all have room to grow when it comes to communication. What’s one thing you’ve learned about communication that has improved your relationships? Have you ever felt truly heard by someone? What made that moment special?

Cultivating Inner Compass: Finding Direction in a Noisy World
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by SherifRiad

...See more In a world filled with external pressures—social media, career expectations, and personal obligations—it can be difficult to stay connected with our inner compass. The Inner Development Goals (IDG) framework highlights the importance of self-awareness and purpose, encouraging us to align our actions with our values. For years, I struggled with making decisions because I was so focused on what others expected of me. I pursued a career I thought was "safe" rather than one I was passionate about. It wasn’t until I started reflecting on my true values that I realized I was living on autopilot. That’s when I began to cultivate my inner compass—my personal guide to decision-making. One exercise that helped me was journaling about moments when I felt most fulfilled. What was I doing? Who was I with? How did it align with my deeper values? I also started practicing mindfulness, taking time each day to disconnect from distractions and sit with my thoughts. Over time, I became more confident in my choices, making decisions that felt right for me rather than just following external expectations. I believe that when we are connected to our inner compass, we can navigate life with more clarity and authenticity. How do you stay true to your values when external pressures challenge them? Have you ever made a decision that felt misaligned with your inner compass?

How to Use Hope to Fuel Your Goal Setting Journey

...See more When we set goals, we often focus on the tangible actions needed to achieve them. However, one key ingredient for success is hope. Hope fuels motivation and helps us believe that we can overcome obstacles along the way. When combined with a clear action plan, hope keeps us focused on our goals, even when things get tough. For instance, you might have a long-term career goal. By maintaining hope, you remind yourself that the steps you’re taking today - whether big or small - are part of a bigger picture. This helps you stay resilient and persistent, even when the path is unclear. Here are some questions to consider when reflecting on your own goals and the role of hope in achieving them: * How does hope influence your ability to stay committed to your long-term goals? * Can you recall a time when hope played a key role in helping you achieve something challenging? What was the outcome? Would love to hear your stories and how you’ve seen hope work for you in goal setting!

Mastering "I Statements" to Improve Communication and Resolve Conflicts
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by SherifRiad

...See more Effective communication is a cornerstone of healthy relationships, whether personal or professional. One powerful tool in fostering clearer, less confrontational communication is the use of "I Statements." These statements allow us to express our feelings, thoughts, and needs without placing blame or judgment on others. For example, instead of saying, "You never listen to me," you might say, "I feel frustrated when I try to express my thoughts and I feel unheard." This shift in language helps the other person understand your feelings without getting defensive, making it easier to work toward a solution. Reflecting on this, here are a couple of questions to consider: * Have you ever used "I Statements" in a challenging conversation? How did it change the dynamic? * How can you practice using "I Statements" more often in your daily interactions, especially during disagreements? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
