Mistreated at work

I deal with angry patients all day long. Today I got threatened and misgendered. I’m tired, dealing with my own ***, and these people use me like a punching bag. We are working on banning the patient that threatened and misgendered me but the company I work for does not like to ban patients. I feel so unappreciated. This is my safety. And I can’t just quit.

@RJhasCresteds I'm so sorry about it. Being threatened and misgendered is always horrible, even more so when you're at work and you can't just respond freely as you normally would. I'm glad the clinic acknowledged the fact, which is more than other clinics would have done (unfortunately), but it's still not enough if no concrete action is taken to protect and care for you.
Your presence is precious even if not all patients appreciate it. The struggle of trans patient in receiving adequate and healthcare and an empathetic treatment is hard, trans professionals in healthcare are an important safe space for them, but for every patient (trans or cis) that benefits from your help and empathy there will be others that belittle and mistreat you.
It's your right to be safe in your workplace. If you can safely do so, make sure that your voice is heard and that your clinic knows how hard this is for you. And if you don't receive enough support, make sure to stick close to the LGBT community that can support you when things get rougher. I wish you the best!
