Daily Prayers, Intentions, & Beams!
by Heather225
Last post

...See more I often reflect on what makes our community so extraordinary. It’s the way we listen, the way we relate, the way we care for one another, and accept one another where we’re at, struggles and all. We are connected because we share the human experience. We find collective strength in one another and draw on that to not just survive, but thrive. Together, we're building a community where healing is possible, growth is inevitable, and hope is attainable. This interconnectedness is how we combat loneliness and create ripples of positive change, one connection, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time. Inspired by this shared connection and the incredible strength we find in one another, I have created this space for us to offer and receive support, pray for one anothers, set intentions for our community, and send positive energy to those in need. Think of this as our daily practice of collective care. Whether you have a specific prayer request for support or want to share a positive affirmation, this is the place to do it.  Whether you're going through a personal crisis, facing health concerns, or other difficulties, you can ask for an empathetic ear, offer prayers, or just comforting words. If you'd like a specific kind of support, please do mention it with your share. You can say as much or as little as you like about your situation. (It can be as simple as "please pray for x", "please send me strength/blessings/vibes", "please keep me in your thoughts", "send beams" [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/GlensNookCommunity_547/BEAMS_202686/] etc!) Or you can set intentions for your day. (ex. I intend to be more mindful of my own emotional needs and practice self-care.) If you have things that you want us to pray for and think about and send positive energy your way, let us know. (The community team is going to be engaged and following this closely in a more direct way, too. Many of you, like Glen, pray for our community daily or keep us in your thoughts!) This is an invitation for us to surface and build on these activities to strengthen our shining city and further lift one another up.  Ready? Share below!

Note: All forum moderation will be handled by the forum moderators or community leaders. 1. Respectful Dialogue: Encourage respectful and open dialogue that allows members to express their feelings and thoughts about religion without targeting specific religious groups. Ensure that discussions maintain a courteous and tolerant tone. 2. Avoid Forced Beliefs: Remove any posts that attempt to impose personal religious beliefs on others or pressure individuals to adopt a particular faith. Our community respects diverse perspectives and choices. 3. No Shaming or Discrimination: Prohibit any posts that involve shaming, discrimination, or derogatory language towards individuals, religious groups, or spiritual beliefs. Promote an inclusive and accepting environment. 4. Focus on Personal Experiences: Encourage members to share their personal experiences and insights related to spirituality and religion, emphasizing the impact on their lives rather than making sweeping judgments or condemnations. Moderate with Sensitivity: Exercise moderation with a sensitive and understanding approach. When removing posts, provide a clear explanation to the member and offer guidance on how they can rephrase or refocus their discussion in a more constructive manner. 5. Feedback and Appeals: Allow members to provide feedback on moderation decisions through the forum@7cups.com email or messaging the admin, @CheeryMango directly for those who believe their posts were unjustly removed. 6. Consistency: Maintain consistency in applying these guidelines to all posts and members, regardless of their religious or spiritual background. Ensure fairness in moderation. 7. Community Building: Lastly, focus on creating a positive and supportive atmosphere within the religious and spiritual community, where members can freely explore and discuss their beliefs and feelings without fear of judgment or disrespect. ------------------------- tagging the community taglist to be updated: @MeaningfulSilence @AffyAvo @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @tommy @theriverissinging @@Adamw12 @adripika @amiablePeace77 @Armon23 @beck1 @blindCupcake8608 @Carolincares7 @Chevy81 @courageousRiver589 @DivineLove04 @DragonView2 @easyDime4319 @egrima729 @goodAcres5039 @GoodEar1972 @Helgafy @HisLivingWaters @IamAubrey23 @ivoryDog4942 @Jaeteuk @Jenna @LoveMyMoonflowers @loyalApricot1375 @lyricalAngel70 @magnificentNutella @Mahad2804 @MalindaBelle @MeaningfulSilence @Michele2 @officialanonymous @ovowoody @passionateSea1909 @persistentFriend274 @philosophical2741 @pineapplepeanut @PoliteOcean @politePeach9642 @rhodawoolf @RogueOne1983 @SammiSweetheart30 @soulsings @stallion3 @SunShineAlwaysGrateful @Swordpsalm @ThatChristLover @TheJenInBlack @tommy @trueconfidant123 @Tulipsmile @Tyedyedbutterfly65 @yaswecan7

Ramadan Mubarak

...See more Ramadan Mubarak to everyone!  In this age of social media, our innocent minds often focus on the things we don’t have. This Ramadan, I want to train myself to be grateful, for everything Allah has blessed me with, without me even asking, and even for the things He didn’t give me, knowing they were withheld for my own good. Let’s make this Ramadan about counting blessings, not comparisons. Wishing you all a beautifully blessed, spiritually uplifting, and joy-filled Ramadan!

...See more As-salamu alaykum! I hope everyone is doing well. I’m writing this post to wish Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims in our community. This is a space to share your Ramadan greetings, reflect on the month, and connect with fellow Muslims. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, a time of fasting from the break of dawn until the start of sunset, increased worship, and striving towards self-improvement and good deeds.  Fasting will begin tomorrow for some countries and the day after for others, depending on moon sighting. It involves refraining from food, drink, and negative behaviors while focusing on acts of kindness, charity, and spiritual growth. At the end of the month, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, a joyous occasion marking the completion of Ramadan. We have a dedicated space for discussions about Islam in the Religion & Spirituality sub-community. You can use this space to share your experiences, reflections, and goals for the month, encourage and support others in their Ramadan journey, and even share prayers and supplications.  🔦Islam Sub-forum Link [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/] For Muslims, what are your goals for this Ramadan, and how do you plan to achieve them?  (For example, if you want to donate to a charity every day, you can choose to use a service that automatically donates every day for you) Even if you are not a Muslim, you are welcome to wish Muslims Ramadan Mubarak.

Forgiveness in shaban for the month of Ramadan
by quietlistener2023
Last post
February 20th
...See more Some people ask how we should prepare for Ramadan.  People's preparation can be different, some people try to fast more, give more charity and read more Quran.  Others go shopping and buy whatever they need for the month so that they won't need to go shopping during Ramadan so much However, one important preparation is to prepare one's heart to receive the month.   The heart is important in Islam.  All action is judged by intention and our hearts bring us closer to Allah.   Therefore, it is a good idea to try and purify our hearts and connection to Allah before the beginning of Ramadan.   Since Ramadan involves our gratitude for the revelation of Quran, then avoiding things that keep us from that gratitude makes sense.  One big factor that we are asked to deal with before Ramadan and that might get in the way of our spirituality is harbouring grudges, resentment, anger and hatred.  We should try to improve our relationships with others during this time, and this might involve clearing up personal disputes and relationship issues.  We are asked to forgive and make up with people before Ramadan and especially this night of 15 Shaban (the month before Ramadan) and this should help us benefit more from spirituality throughout the month when we are not harbouring anger or hatred towards anyone.  Some people find forgiveness difficult because they think that forgiveness means excusing someone's action and letting them off.  Forgiveness is not excusing bad behaviour and abuses, but rather clears our own hearts and selves from hatred, excessive anger or obsessing over something that happened.  We can forgive someone and still hold them to account for wrong doing.  They might still go to court, receive a punishment, pay a fine and so forth but by forgiving we are acknowledging their humanity and that they made a mistake. Empathy can help a lot when trying to forgive someone and understanding what happened.  Therefore sometimes it is necessary to talk or bring someone else to help the two people understand one another.  Forgiveness is beneficial for us and might help us decrease negative emotions, lower blood pressure, reduce anger issues and improve our relationships.   It can help us to increase our empathy and be more at peace with ourselves and others.  Of course, when it is us who have done wrong we might need to put some effort into helping someone forgive us.  When we have made a mistake or harmed someone in some way we should be the ones coming forward to apologize and put things right.  In Islamic law this means acknowledging your mistake with the person and requesting their forgiveness.  Also giving back things that might have been taken wrongfully, repairing or replacing something broken or correcting claims of slander and so forth.  We can help people to forgive us through our own efforts and by trying to put things right when we did wrong.  A person is allowed to avoid speaking to someone for three days.  We have been given this time period to allow us to avoid contact or talking to someone when angry, and to calm down.  After three days a person should at least begin acknowledging the other person by greeting them.  Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said that the best of the two is the one who greets first.  If people don't get on or wish to remain friends then we are asked to keep to the lowest level of interactions, which is greeting one another and avoiding negative feelings towards others.  In this way we can hope to maintain our own inner peace and peace amongst those around us.  Here are some relevant links concerning Shaban and forgiveness.  About 15 the Shaban:  https://muslimhands.org.uk/latest/2019/04/the-importance-of-15th-shaban-night [https://muslimhands.org.uk/latest/2019/04/the-importance-of-15th-shaban-night] Benefits of forgiveness: https://www.verywellmind.com/the-benefits-of-forgiveness-3144954 [https://www.verywellmind.com/the-benefits-of-forgiveness-3144954] If you have some experience with forgiving others and how it made you feel or benefited you feel free to share it

Update.. Trauma.. Going through a hard time
by CapnPika

...See more I have been reading Qur'an and making Dua 5 times a day. I have a lot of good friends now that are Muslim. With events in the world though, myself and my friends have been getting threats of violence towards us and a lot of violent pictures and videos being thrown at us. It is really traumatic as someone with C-PTSD. I live in a really bad part of the world that is not accepting at all of Muslims.. If I ever chose to wear hijab I would be shot if I went in public. I am sorry to come out with all this on forums... I recently tried to reach out to a Listener but they tried to tell me to "look at what the bad part of the religion is" as a warning.. that killed me because I am already fearful of retaliation. I already have C-PTSD and a Panic Disorder + Agoraphobia..  I can't talk to my therapist either, she is conservative Christian (where I live.. they are.. once again not kind to Muslims). So I feel very trapped. I am disabled so I don't have the ability to search down a counselor that is friendly to Muslims as I only have Medicaid and Medicare.  I am not letting all this discourage me, it is just quite traumatizing.. I see now what kind of hatred people face in the world even more than I already did.. Every religion EVER has had bad things about it that have happened as a result of politics being mixed in with religion to further a political agenda.. I could really go off on this subject but I really don't want to trigger anyone anymore than I have. What I did realize is Islam is a religion of love, respect, kindness, compassion. People who are horrible to people because of their beliefs .... that's not okay at all. These bullies / trolls and others who push horrible stuff against the Muslim community do so so so much damage. I can't even trust anyone as a Listener now because I don't know at what point they'll start trying to "convert me" or say horrible things..

When you get a reminder that things are going your way🌷

...See more May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. alsalam ealaykum warahmat allah wabarakatuh.  I hope you are all well and healthy. Honestly, a very beautiful situation happened to me and I wanted to share this, perhaps it could be an incentive or a reminder, or I don’t know how to describe it more. Well, to make a long story short, I had something I wanted so badly and was so excited about it that I made all the preparations and things I needed for it, but unfortunately it didn't happen, and let's just say it was a complete failure. Because of this, I felt really sad, to be honest, and I felt suffocated and anxious during the day. During prayer time, I went to pray, and then I started reading the Holy Quran. Glory be to Allah, the first verse I started reading was: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. {But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows, while you do not know.} [Al-Baqarah: 216]. صدق الله العظيم Allah's words are true. And literally I felt that it was a message to me and I felt a warmth filling my heart and my eyes started to tear up. I felt that it was a reminder to me not to forget that if God saw that this thing was good for me, it would have happened and I cannot see this and that everything that happens to us has a divine wisdom that we do not know. The good deeds that souls hate because of the hardship they entail are undoubtedly good, and the evil deeds that souls love because of the comfort and pleasure they imagine they bring are undoubtedly evil. As for the conditions of this world, the matter is not constant, but what is most prevalent for the believing servant is that if he loves a matter and God provides him with the means to divert him from it, it is better for him. So it is more appropriate for him to thank God and believe in the good in reality, because he knows that God Almighty is more merciful to the servant than he is to himself and more capable of the benefit of His servant than he is. If the servant knows that the disliked may bring about the beloved, and the beloved may bring about the disliked, he will not feel safe that harm will come to him from the side of pleasure, and he will not despair that pleasure will come to him from the side of harm, because he does not know the consequences. God knows of them what the servant does not know. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Eid Al Adha Mubarak 2024
by Hope
Last post
June 17th, 2024
...See more As-salamu alaykum, I hope you all are doing well and making the most of these blessed days. It is the second Eid celebrated by Muslims, and it is called Eid Al Adha. This Eid is on the 10th day of Dul Hijh (It's a month in the Islamic calendar which is a lunar calendar). It’s exact date is dependant on the sighting of the moon so it is on Sunday in some countries and on Monday in other countries. The Eid lasts for 3 days!    Eid is essentially a celebration, Muslims celebrate with food, wear their best clothes, and sacrifice an animal to share with the needy, loved ones, and themselves (this applies to those who can afford it). At the same time, some undertake Hajj, a yearly journey to Mecca (Saudi Arabia) mandatory for all Muslims once in a lifetime, who can afford it and are physically capable of completing it. More info can be found here.  [https://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/resources/knowledge-base/five-pillars-of-islam/hajj/] Usually, you will find much diversity in how Muslims dress up, what food they consume, and how they celebrate eid. But common factors remain, good food, the best clothes, and meeting friends/family if they are close.  Even if you do not celebrate, you can wish your Muslim friends or community users ‘Eid Mubarak’ On this Eid, let us be mindful of the people far away from their families and include them in our celebrations if possible. Keep those who are struggling in your prayers and help the needy ones around you if you can, for Eid is for everyone! Those who are celebrating Eid, what are you looking forward to the most? Note: We have the Religion sub-community now, so anyone interested is welcome to create posts related to Eid, the day of Arafah, and the various ways to make the most of these days here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion].

Eid Al Fitr Mubarak 2024
by Hope
Last post
April 12th, 2024
...See more As Salamu Alaikum [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/As-salamu_alaykum], I hope you are doing well. It feels like a few days ago when I wished you all Ramadan Mubarak [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/RamadanMubarak2024_325330/]! Here we are at the end of this month now preparing for Eid. Such is the speed of life! I hope you were able to do all that you set out to do this month. As we say goodbye to Ramadan, it is time to welcome Eid al-Fitr. It is one of the major celebrations for Muslims. The three-day festival celebrates the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan by Muslims across the world. Usually, the first day is the most celebrated. Eid al-Fitr follows Ramadan when the new moon is sighted. Ramadan can last 29 or 30 days. You can read more here. [https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/4/7/when-is-eid-al-fitr-2024-and-how-is-it-celebrated] Eid is either tomorrow for some countries and the day after tomorrow for others (countries usually differ a day).  What happens on Eid al Fitr? * Before the Eid prayer, Muslims worldwide give a form of charity called Zakat-al-Fitr, it is to be given as food to the needy. Read more on that here. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zakat_al-Fitr]  * Women apply Henna/Mehandi the night or two before Eid.  * New clothes or the best clothes available are worn by Muslims * A special prayer is offered called the Eid prayer early in the morning. Muslims usually offer it after wearing their best clothes. It is in a congregation, typically held at mosques and other big available places.  * People meet their families, and exchange gifts and the children often get Eidi which is cash from the adults. It is usually the highlight of the day for the children, counting the money they got! Do note, that Eid does not look the same for everyone! Some people can not afford new clothes, others are living far away from family, some maybe sick or dealing with a loss. If this Eid is a challenging one for you, 7 Cups is here for you! Do reach out to a listener for support here.  [https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/?badge=0&find=&sort=&category=&ageGroup=&listType=&gender=&religion=&country=&language=&verifiedlistener=on] Do you wish to make Eid-related posts? You can post in the Islam space of this sub-community.  [https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/Islam_2609/] If you are not a Muslim, you are still welcome to wish Muslims Eid Mubarak, you of course don’t have to if you wish not to but feel free to if you want to!  To all those celebrating * What are you most looking forward to on Eid? * Share one fond Eid memory with us!
