Inspirational Books, Childhood to Adulthood

Some of our greatest life lessons can come from our favorite children's books.
Both The Little Engine That Could and therapy emphasize the power of mindset in overcoming obstacles. The little engine’s mantra—"I think I can"—mirrors the way therapy helps people reframe thoughts, build resilience, and push through challenges. Just like the engine learns to believe in itself to climb the hill, therapy helps individuals develop self-belief and coping strategies to navigate life’s difficulties.

@amiablePeace77
I can't say my childhood books were motivating. Besides, my favourites are probably unknowns where you are, except the whole "Heidi" series.
When I was a teen, I mostly read novels and classics. I would not say they were motivating in the feminism department, until I read The Second Sex by Simone de b Beauvoir, and even then, I was rather out of my comfort zone.
Since then, I have read mostly biographies and non-fiction
What are books that give you motivation?

@Fradiga
The post was actually made by Ashley (therapist). I just added the taglist.
I remember Heidi! This series was so popular, and I was eager to watch it! Today I prefer biographies.

@amiablePeace77
We seem to have a lot in common 😍

@AshleyNFlewellenLPC
I like to read biographies like for example Tina Turner or Nelson Mandela (RIP). Those were great personalities who showed immense strength.
Btw love the way you do your posts, so colorful and positive!

I loved the little engine that could and the Amelia Bedillia books. I think it’s because I relate to her in a way. She did her best but wasn’t quite right, yet she kept trying anyway.
As for a motivational books now , The body keeps the score by Bessel van der Kolk & Complex PTSD: from surviving to thriving by Pete Walker.

@AshleyNFlewellenLPC I never really read books, my concentration sucks. But @soulsings has been showing me kids stories😁💗 she showed me the little blue engine that was a good one😁 and the 3 little pigs, and lots around xmas, but a lot of them where quite sad, but yeah they all had messages that really make you think💗 thanks soul💗💗💗

@Tinywhisper11 you are welcome !

@soulsings 💗💗

@AshleyNFlewellenLPC my favourite childhood book is Under the Hawthorn tree 😊 and I love reading a book that was published recently in Ireland, called, My Voice, highlighting the importance of children with autism and ADHD to have a voice and for their stories to be heard, acknowledged and celebrated ♥️

@AshleyNFlewellenLPC
There are a lot, but Oh The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss is the one that stands out the most! I just love it!

@INeverPromisedYouARoseGarden
Great quote! Thanks for sharing!

I read Junie B. Jones. Her stories were full of lessons of a little loud girl. Who was curious and had opinions. She had her mom, dad, and friends while she went to elementary school. I love her adventures.

The velveteen rabbit..

Maybe Corduroy
Also for adult books, Panic Attacks Calming the Storm by Brian Ludwig

@GreenLime3141
I believe books that help us to deal with certain challenges are always good to read! Panic attacks can be hard for sure!

Yeah it was ***.

@GreenLime3141
How are you coping now? Please pm me if you need resources from the site about how to deal with panic attacks or anxiety or let me know here.

Definitely still anxiety, but no panic attacks anymore thank God.

Any resources for mania? ;P
