Help me get back into reading.

Hey fam. I’m on a mission to get back into reading. I’d love to hear from all of you—what books have truly captured your heart and attention? Feel free to share any books that made a lasting impact or just a book you couldn’t put down. Maybe there's a book that reignited your passion for reading that you think could do the same for me!
Looking forward to hearing your suggestions! Thanks in advance! 📚✨

@MIcentric90. Hi lately I have been reading books by Elin Hilderbrand. I would call them light fiction.
@adventurousBranch3786 I will check out their work. Thank you for responding. I am currently reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath 😊

@MIcentric90. I looked up Bell Jar. It sounds interesting. I would say it’s much more serious subject matter than Elin Hilderbrand books are. Some of my favorite books that are more serious (they need trigger warnings) are The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

Hey there. That's a very interesting question. I deeply relate to the feeling. I figured while exploring different genres that the themes of romance, love, heartbreak, healing, etc. really piqued my appetite for reading and instantly managed to get me hooked.
I was watching a video about tips on how to get into reading just now haha. Coincidence much! I gathered that if a book doesn't interest you a few pages down please don't feel guilty to put it down and switch to new one. It could be a global bestseller but, everyone's taste doesn't have to be your taste. Start by knowing what intrigues you. Explore and read reviews or the content on the back cover, ask friends for recommendations. Understand what stands out to you. It could be self help, romance, thriller, horror or psychology.
Some books from my to-be-read shelf,
- 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think by Brianna Wiest
- The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma
- Crime and Punishment by by Fyodor Dostoevsky
@trueconfidant123 Thank you for your recommendation and tips. I am more into non-fiction books around lived mental health experiences, I also love reading romantic, coming of age, young adult fictions. I will check out the books you recommended. I just finished reading Dostoyevski's White Night and Bobok. His philosophical way of writing is kinda hard for me to follow but one day hopefully I will enjoy that kind of writing.

@MIcentric90
I see. That is interesting to hear. I'm really excited and looking forward to reading Dostoevesky myself. The reviews are a mix and I've gathered it can be difficult to comprehend.
About mental health, something I came across recently is The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk. It attempts to address how PTSD patients experience trauma over the years following a traumatic exposure. A gripping bestseller about where trauma goes, and its disastrous effects on both individuals and societies. You might want to check it out however, it can be triggering so be cautious.
@trueconfidant123 Yeah, if you like philosophy you will really enjoy Dostoevsky's work. I liked the plot and the message in his short story "Bobok". Maybe you could start with that and see if his writing is easy for you to follow. The Body Keeps Scores is actually on my reading list. I have heard good things about it. I look forward to reading it.

@MIcentric90
Alright, thank you so much for the suggestions. Happy reading! 😄

@MIcentric90 I love reading! I like coming of age stories. My favorite genres are fantasy, scifi, horror. I also enjoy reading poetry and history books or self help. It's always been my dream to write and publish my own stories. At the moment I'm writing a novel plus short stories :)
@WellsFiction That is amazing. I wish you all the best on this writing journey. Look forward to hearing more about it 😊

@MIcentric90 Thank you so much!
