My concern about mutes

Hey everyone.  I have been thinking about this for a while now.  I know we have the mutes available for when we are having an issue with another chatter. However something that has not made sense to me is how these mutes only go one way. Meaning for example if I muted you, I can no longer see you but you can still see everything I say.  I do not think this is right.  I believe mutes should go both ways. It would reduce arguments and trolling from certain people later if they can't just sit there and watch everything you say.  Please let me know if you agree with this thought and pass it on to whoever might be able to do something with this idea.  Thank you so much!

Nice seeing you here, Hota, and glad you are trying to address something that you're bothered about!

I feel one of the underlying ideas might be that if two people are in an argument, they can mute each other, so technically in this sense, it goes both ways. Person A mutes person B and doesn't see their texts, Person B supposedly should do the same and mute A, so it may work both ways and they don't see them either!

But of course, it's still not a 'foolproof' idea, because what if person B isn't as inclined towards the idea of muting someone they were arguing with and still wants to see their texts. (Bizarre, I know?!)

I do see value in your suggestion and feel it maybe helpful in blocking the argument/ harsh vibe in the chatroom with a both-way mute.💛

Tagging our group support leaders to check in with you over this! @ASilentObserver @Suryansh

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Yes because another thing to consider is trolls.  It makes people feel uncomfortable sharing things about their mental illness or lives cause you're afraid of what's going to be used against you.

@Hotaru419 aw I understand how worrying it can be, and hope the group support leadership can intervene more strongly against the repetitive trolling behaviour!
