Wow! I'm glad it makes you feel better both physically and mentally 😊

@woer

You don’t have to necessarily know where to start…

You could always look into Group Fitness classes at a local gym where you can join others in a group setting and workout together. (Whether it’s cardio or weights or something else)… The instructor will lead you & show you what to do…

And if group fitness isn’t your thing and you’d rather do machines etc.. typically you can sign up at many gyms for a trial period and they give you trial access to a personal trainer as well. Like a complimentary session or two.., Where they show you how to use the machines and workout specific areas.

There’s always options at the gym.

I know this thread is about the "gym"..., but helping people get moving and healthy is what it is all about....not knowing where to start is a barrier to exercise and healthy living.....a great place to start getting healthy and exercising is to just move....

Well done on making it to the gym! How do you stay motivated to go, even on days when you are not in the mood?

Everyone is different … and sometimes there are days where you have to dig deep to find whatever your motivation is for yourself personally.

For me, this is why I’m a huge fan of Group Fitness Classes, where I can come together with other like-minded people striving towards common goals! It’s easy to stay motivated when you know you are going to show up and have others around you supporting your efforts. (Even if it’s in the weight room as well)… You meet others, socialize, learn to make “gym-friendships” & root each other on.

Ultimately though you have your own personal goals to reach and I like to think of it as keeping our eyes on the prize (in terms of what you are striving for & what you want out of it as your end result & beyond). To me, that’s my motivation to not give up.

That’s a great point! Working out with others adds accountability and can be a strong motivator. Plus, reminding yourself of your 'WHY' (the reason you started), can help keep you going even on tough days.
