...See more So for background info, I got into smoking weed in early/mid 2022. I was a pretty heavy-duty stoner until March of 2023. I had a pretty traumatic experience with a pen on the 17th of March, 2023. I got laced with other types of hard drugs. After that, I was too anxious and scared to try to smoke weed again, which ended up being my way of quitting. Fast forward to Saturday, Feb 15, 2025 (which was 700 days clean). I was cleaning out my old garage and found a container of the weed that I used to smoke back in 2022/2023. I thought "Oh I'll just throw this out". The next day I was too tempted and broke my 701-day mark. Next month I would have had 2 years clean but I broke it for no good reason. This also ties into Bipolar Disorder, which this aswell as many other examples lately have made me realize I am now Manic again after a very bad depressive episode that I'm really not sure how I made it out of. Anyway, I'm not sure what I'm really searching for within the topic of relapsing, but I thought I could just put this out there and let anyone who wants to reply to it.

...See more I need help from people who have experience with this because I totally don't.  My best friend is good person but impulsive. She likes to take risks. She doesn't think about the consequences but it was never that serious until the last week.   She missed a final exam and I was worried about what happened, i texted her but She refused to tell me. She said that she needs time and space so I tried to give her that.  And it's been like five days since what happened and she finally told me. She searched about a substance that you can find in coughing medications and she saw that some people use it to get an euphoria or whatever and she was curious. She wanted to try it. She impulsively took too much, like too much then she felt scared and a bit anxious so she tried to distract herself And ended up falling asleep. She woke up feeling so dizzy. She tried to stand up but she fell. She was so nauseous. Her vision was blurry. She was trying to call out for anybody. She was saying "where am I? Where am I?" Her sister and mom tried to help. She Puked everything that was in her stomach. Her eyes were wide open yet she was unresponsive, she felt like her head was underwater. She was crying and saying stuff like, "I promise I will change. I'll become better. This won't happen again."  Her dad took her to the hospital but they did not do much and then she went home. Her mom is apparently upset with her. My girl is is scared that she might do it again, She says that she doesn't even know why she did it. She just did and she can't find a reason for why it happened. It's worth noting that she never had anything to do with substances before. She told me that she's trying to change a lot of things in her life and personality and she can already see improvements. She told me that it'll never happen again, but I can't believe it.  I don't know what to do, I'm a bit dissociated and don't know how to process it. She might die if it happens again.

It’s a journey of progress and setbacks, and a relapse does not mean that you are starting from scratch. Instead, it’s a chance to learn, grow, and get back up stronger. • Discussion: What was your initial reaction when you experienced a setback or relapse? Did you feel discouraged or empowered to keep moving forward? • Practical Tip: When you experience a setback, acknowledge your feelings of disappointment, but avoid letting those feelings define you. One powerful tool in recovery is to create a “relapse action plan.” Write down your thoughts, what you’ve learned, and practical steps you can take to get back on track. • Action Step: Take 10 minutes to journal about the experience. What did you learn? What’s one positive thing you can take away to improve your recovery moving forward? Resilience Bouncing Back from Setbacks: • Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from setbacks. Just like a muscle that grows stronger after being worked, your ability to bounce back improves each time you do so. • Motivational Quote: “It’s not how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up that counts.” – Anonymous • Reflection: Think of a time in your recovery when you felt like giving up but chose to keep going. What helped you persevere? • Practical Tip: Build a personal resilience toolkit that includes resources like phone numbers of supportive friends, activities that bring you peace, or motivational quotes. Resilience is about proactively preparing to face challenges. • Action Step: Create a resilience box—a collection of items, quotes, or reminders that motivate you to stay strong during tough times. The Importance of Self-Compassion: • During a setback, we’re often hard on ourselves. It’s important to show yourself the same grace you would offer to others in a similar situation. • Practical Exercise: Reflect on how you talk to yourself during a setback. What would it look like if you spoke to yourself with kindness and encouragement? • Practical Tip: Create a self-compassion mantra, such as, “I am doing my best, and that’s enough.” Repeat it when you’re feeling discouraged. • Action Step: Write down a self-compassion mantra and say it aloud whenever you feel frustrated or disappointed in yourself. Building a Support System: •       Recovery is difficult to navigate alone. Building a support system is crucial when dealing with setbacks. Surround yourself with people who will lift you up, encourage you, and hold you accountable • Practical Tip: Create an accountability group or recovery team of trusted individuals who can provide support during tough times. Schedule regular check-ins with them. • Action Step: List three people you trust to support your recovery. Reach out to them and let them know how they can help. Reflecting and Moving Forward: •.      Setbacks are a natural part of recovery, but they do not have to define your future. They are stepping stones for personal growth. • Reflection: What have you learned from past setbacks? How can you use those lessons to strengthen your recovery moving forward? • Practical Tip: Create a list of affirmations or reminders to encourage yourself when setbacks occur. Additional Tips for Handling Setbacks & Relapse: • Don’t Isolate Yourself: Avoid withdrawing from others. Stay connected to your support network, attend meetings, and reach out when you need encouragement. • Reflect, Don’t Dwell: Focus on what you can learn from a setback and move forward. • Set Small Goals: After a setback, focus on small, manageable goals to regain confidence. • Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge small victories, such as reaching out for help or completing a day of sobriety. Setbacks and relapses are a part of recovery, but they do not define us. By showing ourselves compassion, building resilience, and relying on a strong support system, we can move forward stronger than before. This post provides tools and a supportive space to reflect, grow, and thrive despite the challenges. ...See more I relapsed three days after I got .out of treatment. I am in a custody battle and have court next week. I meet the GAL on Weds. And I am hopeless lost and if they find out I've use again( which they prob will) bc I can't stop! I know I've got to ***. Get through the next two days and feel like *** and DEAL with it! I HAVE to!

...See more I became friends with some different people in the past year or so for various reasons, and many of them "indulge" or "self-medicate" in ways I don't agree with. Some of these people are even quite important to me. I've never done meth and don't want to. I quit anything more than rare use of drugs more then a few years ago, recently saying a no thanks to all, and went sober a few or so years ago. It's really quite stressful and sad for me sometimes. I have tried to tell them there are better solutions out there. That health is something I care about. Their health. That they are beautiful. That God created them beautiful. I could go on and on. But many don't really take me seriously. Some have cut back and that makes me believe in humanity more. I say it's bad but I don't really want to push it too much. I don't want people to quit too fast... and have it be bad for their health? Some say that. I don't know. And I don't want people to change for me but because they want to. Maybe my approach is wrong? I don't really know anything about the drug. It just wasn't ever really around me. I'm trying to keep compassion and care but I feel this issue creates such a distance. Atleast I'm gaining patience and calm somewhat I guess.

...See more As I’m sure you can gather from the title. I have a stimulant addiction. But I also have a medically necessary reason to have them with my adhd. I’ve tried tapering off and alternative medications but it all comes down to the same thing every time. My work performance suffers so strongly that I risk losing my job and then I would be in a much bigger problem. I just want to not need them as my crutch but I can’t stop them. When I lost my insurance and ability to get my adderall I started buying armodafinil as a cheap substitute from online Indian pharmacies. I just hate feeling like I’m not in charge of the controls anymore. It feels like I’m John Malkovich in the movie Being John Malkovich. I can see everything happening but I’m not consciously controlling it. I could reach out and stop at any time but doing so would throw my life into turmoil.
